Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about CalSync
General
What is CalSync and how does it work?
+CalSync is a Chrome extension that automatically synchronizes your personal calendar events to your work calendar. You can choose to sync events as private "busy" blocks to maintain privacy, or sync with full event details. The extension connects to your Google calendars and creates synced events based on your privacy preferences.
Is CalSync free to use?
+Yes, CalSync is completely free to use. There are no subscription fees, premium features, or hidden costs. Simply install the extension and start synchronizing your calendars.
Which browsers are supported?
+CalSync is currently available for Google Chrome and Chromium-based browsers (such as Microsoft Edge, Brave, and Opera). Support for other browsers may be added in future updates.
Privacy & Security
What information is shared with my work calendar?
+You can choose what information to share. CalSync offers two sync options: you can sync events as generic "Busy" blocks that only show time slots without revealing personal details, or you can choose to sync with full details including event titles, descriptions, and other information.
Is my calendar data stored anywhere?
+No, CalSync does not store your calendar data on external servers. All processing happens locally in your browser, and the extension only reads your calendar data to create synced events in your destination calendar.
Can I revoke access at any time?
+Yes, you can revoke CalSync's access to your Google account at any time through your Google Account settings under "Third-party apps & services." You can also disable or uninstall the extension from Chrome at any time.
Setup & Configuration
Do I need separate Google accounts for personal and work?
+Not necessarily. CalSync can work with multiple calendars within the same Google account, or across different Google accounts. You can sync from a personal calendar to a work calendar regardless of whether they're in the same account.
How often does CalSync check for new events?
+CalSync checks for calendar updates every 10 seconds.
Can I sync multiple personal calendars to one work calendar?
+Currently, CalSync supports syncing from one source calendar to one destination calendar. However, you can configure multiple instances or manually select a calendar that already aggregates your personal events.
Does CalSync work when my browser is closed?
+No, CalSync only works when your browser is open and running. Since it's a browser extension, it requires an active browser session to access your calendars and perform synchronization. If you close your browser, calendar syncing will pause and resume when you reopen the browser.
Troubleshooting
My events aren't syncing. What should I check?
+First, ensure you're signed into both Google accounts and that CalSync has the necessary permissions. Check that you've selected the correct source and destination calendars. If the issue persists, try disconnecting and reconnecting your Google account, or check the extension's status page for any error messages.
Can I delete synced events manually?
+Yes, you can manually delete any synced events from your work calendar. CalSync is smart and won't recreate events that you've manually deleted, even if the corresponding personal event still exists.
What happens if I'm offline?
+CalSync requires an internet connection to access your Google calendars. If you're offline, synchronization will pause and resume automatically once your connection is restored.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
+You can report bugs or request features by leaving a review on the Chrome Web Store or contacting us through the support link in the extension. We actively monitor feedback and regularly release updates.
