1. Information We Collect

CalSync is designed with privacy in mind. We handle information in two distinct categories to maximize your privacy:

1a. Information Transmitted to Our Servers

We receive minimal data on our servers, limited to:

  • Webhook Notifications: We receive webhook notifications from Google containing only your email address when calendar updates occur. These notifications do NOT include any calendar content such as event titles, descriptions, attendees, locations, meeting details, dates, times, or any other personal information from your calendar events

1b. Information Stored and Accessed Locally on Your Device

The following sensitive data never leaves your device and is processed entirely locally:

  • Calendar Data: We access your Google Calendar events to synchronize between your personal and work calendars - this data is processed locally on your device only
  • Authentication Tokens: OAuth tokens to securely access your calendar services are stored locally in your browser
  • Sync Preferences: Your chosen sync modes, calendar selections, and privacy settings are stored locally on your device

2. Data Sharing and Third Parties

CalSync does not sell, trade, or share your personal calendar data with third parties. The only external services we interact with are:

  • Google Calendar API: To read and write calendar events as authorized by you
  • Google Calendar Webhooks: To receive notifications sent to CalSync's servers (containing only your email address) when your calendar is updated
  • Chrome Storage API: To securely store your preferences locally in your browser

We do not share your calendar content, event details, or personal information with any other parties.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data security is our priority:

  • Local Storage: Calendar data and sync preferences are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's secure storage APIs
  • Encryption: All data transmission uses industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Minimal Server Storage: Our servers only store webhook notification flags (your email address) to trigger local sync checks - no calendar content or event details are stored on our servers
  • Secure Authentication: We use OAuth 2.0 for secure, revocable access to your calendars

4. Your Rights and Controls

You maintain full control over your data:

  • Access Control: You can revoke CalSync's access to your calendars at any time through your Google account settings
  • Data Deletion: Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data
  • Sync Control: You can enable/disable synchronization and modify privacy settings at any time
  • Transparency: You can view exactly what data is being synced through the extension interface

5. Data Retention

We retain data only as long as necessary with minimal server-side storage:

  • Calendar synchronization data is processed in real-time locally and not stored permanently on any servers
  • User preferences are stored locally on your device until you uninstall the extension
  • Authentication tokens are stored locally on your device and expire according to Google's OAuth policies
  • Our servers temporarily store only webhook notification flags (containing your email address) to indicate when calendars need sync checking - these contain no calendar content or event details
  • All actual calendar data processing and synchronization happens locally on your device

6. Updates to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in our practices or applicable laws. When we make significant changes, we will:

  • Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
  • Notify users through the extension interface when appropriate

We encourage you to check this page periodically for updates to stay informed on how we collect, use and share your information. If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will provide you with notice as required by law.
